Four local women have been awarded $1000 scholarships by our branch for spring semester at Nevada State University.
The recipients are:
- Amanda Carper, a Henderson resident who is majoring in speech-language pathology.
- Karina Grafton who lives in Boulder City and is majoring in deaf studies with a minor in interpreting.
- Jennifer Morrison, a Boulder City resident who is studying history with a minor in sociology.
- Briana Santana who is from Henderson and is studying to become a registered nurse.
The scholarships are funded by the proceeds from our AAUW branch’s Nov. 4 Home Tour. We will offer scholarships for the 2024 fall semester from funds earned at a Wine and Chocolate tasting the branch will hold in the spring.
Our branch normally holds meetings on the second Wednesday every month from September to May, and we focus on programs that pertain to education, equity, Nevada and Boulder City. All of our meetings are open to the public; we hope to see you there! We also have other fun activities during the year, be sure to check them out!
